Genesis 8
9 But the dove found
no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto
him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the
whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her,
and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent
forth the dove out of the ark;
11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo,
in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew
that the waters were abated from off the earth.
12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth
the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.
13 ¶ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first
year, in the first month, the first day of the month,
the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah
removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and,
behold, the face of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth
day of the month, was the earth dried.
15 ¶ And God spake unto Noah, saying,
16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy
sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:36 "For
ye have need of patience, "
Certainly this was true for Noah.
God told him to build an Ark.
Itself an amazing feat however I assure you
that Noah did not build that Ark in a day.
He had need of Patience.
Noah everyday faced a crowd of doubters and
skeptics and being that flesh is flesh may
have at times been tempted to quit the
project. Consider the
conditions Noah faced in the building
process:
Except for his immediate family:
-
No one in the world believed him.
-
Everyone in the world mocked him.
-
No one in the world confirmed a similar
message from God.
-
Everyone in the world believed his
message was false.
-
No one in the world was sympathetic to
his efforts.
-
Everyone in the world watched as he
worked.
-
No one in the world helped him, loved
him, or even smiled at him.
-
Everyone in the world thought he was the
most insane man in the world.
-
No one had ever built a boat of this
dimension.
-
No one built boats of any substance so
far from water.
-
No one understood how there could ever
be enough water in which to drown all
life.
-
No one could understand how he could get
all the animals on board, let alone in
the right sexes and numbers, let alone
feeding them, let alone surviving among
them.
-
No one could understand how they could
ALL be SO wicked.
-
No one could understand a God of this
sort of judgment.
-
No one could understand a God that had
this opinion of sin's penalty.
-
No one could understand a God this holy.
I Image for Noah the completion of the Ark
and the day of gathering the animals was a
reward in itself however Noah's lesson on
patience would continue.
Forty-Days and Forty-Nights they endured the
rains in a ship full of animals and a
handful of people. Even
after the rains stopped and the floods were
receding, Noah and the animals stayed in the
Ark waiting. They could not come
out until all the land had dried.
As God taught Noah patience and tested the
endurance of his faith so does God to us.
God moves on his own time schedule.
We would like for things to go faster than
they do however God's not always in a hurry.
Sometimes God is waiting for us to line up
with him. Then and only then
will he move in our behalf
Patience with God deepens our trust in God
and develops us in a way which is pleasing
to God.
Noah used the dove to discern when the
waters were fully abated and We are to use
the Word of God and the Spirit of God to
discern God's Timing.
When we face things that are beyond our
control we need to pray and be patient,
waiting for God's Intervening.
As the Scriptures say, WE HAVE
NEED OF PATIENCE ! |
